    Others Infection Neurological Disease Inflammation/Immunology
Acetylcysteine (N-Acetylcysteine) extracted from plants is derived from plants and is an antioxidant and mucolytic agent that enhances the reserve of free radical scavengers in cells. It has been reported to prevent neuronal apoptosis while inducing apoptosis in smooth muscle cells. In addition, it inhibits HIV replication and serves as a substrate for microsomal glutathione transferase. This endogenous aminothiol is found in human plasma and urine and is commonly used as a mucolytic agent in clinical settings, usually administered by inhalation.

14S(15R)-EET is an endogenous epoxytrienoic acid derivative that mainly exists in rat organs. By studying its metabolic process, it was found that its stereoselective hydration and formation of chiral diols were significantly affected by epoxidase. Different 14,15-EET enantiomers showed different regions and stereochemistry of hydration reactions, among which 14(R),15(S)-EET showed specific hydration for C15. These findings reveal the important role of epoxidase in the metabolism of endogenous EETs, and the differences in enzyme affinity and reaction rate for individual EET enantiomers may lead to their stereoselective metabolism .

3-Hydroxyoctanoic acid is a hydroxylated fatty acid that has been found in the LPS of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and in methyl-branched poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA) polymers produced by Pseudomonas oleophores. It is an agonist of the orphan receptor GPR109B, increasing intracellular calcium in human neutrophils endogenously expressing GPR109B. 3-Hydroxycaprylic acid prevents lipolysis in human adipocytes and is upregulated in human plasma in response to a ketogenic diet. Plasma levels of 3-hydroxyoctanoic acid were also increased 3.41-fold in human male runners exhausted on a treadmill and in a mouse model of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) fed a high-glycemic diet.

    Bacterial Fungal Infection
Marasmic acid is a sesquiterpenoid with unsaturated dialdehyde functionality, first isolated from the Basidiomycete Marasmus conigenus. Marasmic acid has antibacterial, antifungal, cytotoxic and mutagenic activities, and its broad-spectrum activity is related to the α,β-unsaturated aldehyde group. However, its detailed biological mechanism of action has not been clarified. Previous studies have suggested that marasmic acid may exert its effects by reacting with endogenous nucleophiles or forming pyrrole derivatives. This study found that marasmic acid interferes with the membrane sensor histidine kinase MoSln1p of M. oryzae, superactivates the HOG pathway and causes cell death, indicating that its mechanism of action is different from other unsaturated dialdehyde sesquiterpenoids.
